NORKFOLK, Va. (AP) Ray Lawry ran for 215 yards on 31 carries with two touchdowns to help lead Old Dominion to a 24-10 victory over Norfolk State on Saturday.

The game was the second consecutive 200-plus yard effort for Lawry to open the season. He ran for 223 yards last week against Eastern Michigan.

Old Dominion finished with 338 total yards on the ground while holding Norfolk State to 103. Shuler Bentley finished with 122 yards passing for the Monarchs.

Norfolk State (0-2) held a 10-7 second quarter lead on a 32-yard blocked punt return for a touchdown by Hadji Gaylord. But a Lawry TD run gave Old Dominion a 14-10 halftime lead.

Greg Hankerson finished with 163 yards passing for the Spartans.

The game was delayed in third quarter because of lightning. It was only the third meeting all-time between the two schools, which are separated by just four miles.
