South Carolina quarterback Connor Mitch has a separated right shoulder, Gamecocks coach Steve Spurrier told reporters after the game.

Spurrier said the recovery time for the injury is usually about a year.

Mitch injured the shoulder in the second quarter attempting to recover a fumbled pitch. Mitch was taken to the locker room and did not return for the second half. Mitch had completed four of seven passes for 43 yards before his injury.

Junior Perry Orth replaced Mitch for the Gamecocks. He completed 13 of 20 passes for 179 yards and a touchdown in the loss to Kentucky. Orth is expected to take over for the rest of the season.
