Florida's Jim McElwain ashamed of Kelvin Taylor scolding
Florida head coach Jim McElwain is ashamed of his treatment of running back Kelvin Taylor during his team's 31–24 victory against East Carolina on Saturday.
When Florida was penalized 15 yards after Taylor made a throat-slashing gesture following a touchdown run, McElwain laid into the junior on the sideline on national television.
McElwain's not-so-private tirade went viral Sunday, during which he told Taylor to, “f—ing be a man!”
“I don't feel good about it,” McElwain said Monday at a press conference. “As you know, this is a very public job. This is a public thing that we do. I understand that I have a long ways to go and I make mistakes. ... Am I proud of it? Absolutely not. Do I feel bad about it? Yes. At the same time, I've got to understand my mistakes as well and learn from it and go forward.”

McElwain said his 94-year-old mother gave him “an earful” after Saturday's game for his treatment of Taylor.
“Rightfully so,” McElwain said. “I'm by no means perfect and I do know our players know how much I care about them.”
Taylor is the son of retired NFL running back Fred Taylor. He currently leads the Gators with 109 rushing yards and two touchdowns this season.
Taylor is not listed as a starter on the depth chart for Saturday's game at Kentucky.
Freshman Jordan Scarlett is likely to start in his place.
