South Carolina quarterback Connor Mitch has been released from an area hospital after being treated for an internal infection, according to the Associated Press.

Mitch, who is likely out for the rest of the season with a shoulder separation, was admitted to the hospital Saturday after developing internal bleeding near the site of a hip bruise he suffered in the season opener on Sept. 3.

Redshirt junior quarterback Perry Orth replaced Mitch during Saturday’s loss to Kentucky and will start this week against Georgia. Orth, a former walk-on, completed 13 of 20 passes for 179 yards with one touchdown and one interception.

Mitch, a redshirt sophomore, won the starting job over Orth, redshirt freshman Michael Scarnecchia and true freshman Lorenzo Nunez. Nunez saw limited action against the Wildcats and had two carries for 40 yards but did not throw a pass.
