Their new head coach, Pat Narduzzi, has experience against Iowa and the rest of the Big Ten, having led the Michigan State defense for seven years. He’ll look to continue his success against Iowa, despite missing star running back James Conner, who as injured in the team's season-opening victory over Youngstown State.
In his 17th season at Iowa, Kirk Ferentz has implemented a new offensive scheme en route to a 2–0 start. C.J. Beathard was named co-offensive player of the week in the Big Ten after his 215-yard, three-touchdown performance against Iowa State in Week 2. He added 77 yards on the ground, and now has 103 on the season.
