Notre Dame defensive back Drue Tranquill sustained an apparent knee injury while celebrating a pass breakup Saturday.

Late in the first half against Georgia Tech, the Yellow Jackets had the ball on the Fighting Irish 34-yard line. On second-and-17, Tranquill dropped back into the end zone to break up what could have been a go-ahead touchdown. He jumped to celebrate with a teammate, and landed awkwardly on his right leg.

Tranquill immediately rolled over in pain and was taken out of the game. He was seen on the sideline using crutches. After the game, head coach Brian Kelly said Tranquill's injury status “doesn't look good” and that he wasn't optimistic about the diagnosis. Tranquill is set for an MRI Sunday.

Tranquill tore his left ACL last November.

No. 8 Notre Dame defeated No. 14 Georgia Tech 30–22.
