Notre Dame sophomore safety Drue Tranquill is out for the season with a torn ACL, the team announced Sunday.

Tranquill injured his knee while celebrating a pass breakup during the Fighting Irish’s win over Georgia Tech on Saturday.

Late in the first half, Tranquill dropped back into the end zone to break up what could have been a go-ahead touchdown. He jumped to celebrate with a teammate, and landed awkwardly on his right leg.

Tranquill immediately rolled over in pain and was taken out of the game. He was seen on the sideline using crutches. Tranquill also tore his left ACL last November.
