Campus Clicks: Penn finally beats Villanova, Gunner Kiel suffers brutal hit

Friday's Campus Clicks: Penn finally beats Villanova, Gunner Kiel sustains head injury

Quakers!

Penn knocked off Villanova on Thursday night for the first time in ... wait for it ... 104 years! The Quakers possessed the ball for nearly 40 minutes of the 24–13 upset win for their first triumph over the crosstown rival Wildcats since 1911.

Memphis-Cincinnati

Thursday night featured an AAC matchup of Memphis and Cincinnati that featured serious offensive fireworks and a terrifying hit. The Tigers prevailed 53–46 on a last-minute touchdown, but Bearcats quarterback Gunner Kiel was carted off the field and immediately taken the University of Memphis hospital after taking a direct shot to the head and upper body by Tigers' defensive back Chauncey Lanier.

The win continued the momentum for Justin Fuente, who has done a remarkable job in Memphis, turning around a program that has seen almost no success over the last couple decades. Could Memphis get the call to the big leagues and join a power conference as a result of their recent success on the gridiron?

Marquise Gaddy

Winston-Salem State freshman safety Marquise Gaddy was rushed to the hospital with a spinal injury at the Rams' practice on Wednesday afternoon and remains in stable but serious condition. Similarly to Gunner Kiel, we're sending a lot of thoughts and prayers to Gaddy and his family.

Congrats, Amara!

Here's a heart-warming story: Fourteen years after escaping war-torn Sierra Leone, Michigan receiver Amara Darboh officially became a United States citizen on Thursday.

Bust U?

Has Wisconsin become Bust U for NFL running backs? The Badgers passionate fan base certainly won't appreciate the distinction, but the pro careers of Ron Dayne, John Clay, Montee Ball and others suggest it might be accurate. Oh, and current running back Corey Clement is out 4–6 weeks following hernia surgery.
