Colgate runs past Holy Cross 31-14

WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) James Holland rushed for 146 yards and Colgate scored three fourth-quarter touchdowns to beat Holy Cross 31-14 on Saturday in the Patriot League opener for both teams.

Colgate (1-3) was down 14-10 entering the fourth, but Jake Melville hooked up with John Quazza for a touchdown pass that put the Raiders up by three. On their next possession, a 14-play, 61-yard drive culminated in John Wilkins' 2-yard touchdown run and a 10-point lead.

Chris Morgan returned an interception 60 yards for a touchdown with 3:12 left to ice it.

Melville was 14 of 19 for 145 yards and added 54 yards on the ground. Wilkins had 61 yards on 17 carries as Colgate ran for 266 yards on the day.

Holy Cross (1-2) got a first-quarter touchdown pass from Peter Pujals to Mark McGuire and Diquan Walker's second-quarter 3-yard scoring run. Pujals went 23 of 37 for 195 yards.
