The Michigan State Spartans and the Purdue Boilermakers will open their Big Ten conference slates against each other on Saturday at Spartan Stadium in East Lansing, Mich.
Purdue has struggled to a 1–3 start after a 35–28 loss at home to Bowling Green, as Purdue surrendered the lead in the final minute. Redshirt freshman quarterback David Blough made his first career start and completed 29 of 39 passes for 340 yards and two touchdowns along with one interception.
Michigan State remains No. 2 in the national football polls after the team's 30–10 victory over Central Michigan. The team completed its non-conference schedule with victories over Western Michigan, Oregon and Air Force before Saturday's victory.
