Cincinnati coach Tommy Tuberville announced Tuesday on his weekly radio show that quarterback Gunner Kiel will miss Saturday's game against Miami.

Kiel has not been cleared by doctors to practice after suffering a neck injury on a scary hit against Memphis on Thursday. He was taken off the field on a stretcher but was conscious and communicative after the game. He did not practice Monday or Tuesday.

Tuberville had announced Monday that redshirt freshman Hayden Moore would start Saturday, but had left the door open for Kiel's return. Moore threw for a school-record 557 yards in the 53–46 loss to Memphis after replacing Kiel late in the first quarter.

Kiel, a junior, had started 17 straight games for Cincinnati. He's completed 63.1 percent of his passes for 868 yards this season, with five touchdowns and five interceptions.

The Bearcats (2–2) take on the Hurricanes (3–0) at 7:30 p.m. ET on Thursday.
