The Oregon Ducks come into the game after 62-20 loss to Utah, which dropped them from the Top 25. Quarterback Jeff Lockie struggled, completing 10 of 20 passes for 139 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. The Ducks' defense gave up 530 total yards to the Utes.
Colorado is coming off a 48–0 blowout win over Nicholls State and already has one more win than last season. Quarterback Sefo Liufau finished the game 13 for 21 with 227 yards and one touchdown. The Buffaloes also had two rushers eclipse the 100-yard mark. Phillip Lindsay carried the ball 17 times for 113 yards and two touchdowns and Donovan Lee added 103 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries.
