Youngstown St. cruises against South Dakota, 31-3

VERMILLION, S.D. (AP) Hunter Wells completed 15 of 26 passes for 158 yards and two touchdowns, including a 51-yard strike to Andrew Williams, to help Youngstown State to a 31-3 victory over South Dakota on Saturday.

Williams finished with 79 yards receiving on four catches. Martin Ruiz added 86 yards rushing and two touchdowns for the Penguins (3-1, 1-0 Missouri Valley Conference).

Defensively, Youngstown State held South Dakota to 262 total yards and just 10 first downs while forcing three turnovers.

The Penguins led 17-0 at halftime and were never seriously threatened, extending their lead to 24-0 midway through the third before the Coyotes (2-2, 0-1) finally got on the board after a Miles Bergner 39-yard field goal.

Ryan Saeger threw for 119 yards for South Dakota but completed just nine of his 25 passes with an interception.
