Indiana State edges Southern Illinois 39-36

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) Matt Adam threw three touchdown passes, ran 43 yards for a fourth and Indiana State held on for a 39-36 win over Southern Illinois on Saturday.

Indiana State (4-2, 2-1 Missouri Valley) took the lead for good at the end of the first half with a 27-yard field goal by Eric Heidorn. Adam, who was 14 of 29 for 190 yards and added another 123 yards rushing, had thrown a 30-yard touchdown strike to Gary Owens in the first quarter and then scrambled from the 43 to tie it at 14.

Owens hauled in two more touchdown throws in the second half and finished with 128 yards. Roland Genesy had a 54-yard touchdown run, Heidorn had another field goal and LeMonte Booker piled up 113 yards on 23 carries.

Mark Iannotti threw for 427 yards and three touchdowns for Southern Illinois (2-4, 1-2) and rushed for another TD.
