Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh shows no interest in NFL return
Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh showed no interest in vying for a return to the NFL on Tuesday, reports Pro Football Talk’s Michael David Smith.
When asked about a potential return to the league in the wake of his team’s devastating 27–23 loss to Michigan State on Saturday, Harbaugh responded with disdain.
“I won’t comment on it,” Harbaugh told reporters. “It’s disrespectful to the game. I look at it as disrespectful.”
The Miami Dolphins fired head coach Joe Philbin on Oct. 5 to create the first NFL head coaching vacancy of the season.
In December, Michigan hired Harbaugh, an alumnus, as its head football coach. Harbaugh and the San Francisco 49ers mutually agreed to part ways before the hiring, after he spent four seasons as the team’s head coach and led them to three straight NFC championship game appearances from 2011 to 2013.
Harbaugh has coached Michigan to a No. 15 ranking and 5–2 record so far this season.
The Wolverines will play the Minnesota Golden Gophers (4–3) on Saturday at TCF Bank Stadium.
