WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) Purdue University officials plan to ask the board of trustees for approval on a $60 million football complex.

President Mitch Daniels and athletic director Morgan Burke said Wednesday they'll make the proposal at the board's December meeting. If approved, construction would begin in May and would be finished in August 2017.

In a news release, the university said the project would be funded entirely through private donations and revenue from television and radio contracts and the Big Ten Network.

The renovated Mollenkopf Athletic Center would house a locker room, players' lounge, meeting rooms, a sports performance training area, a sports medicine facility, coaches' offices and a lobby featuring Purdue's football successes.

It would be the first major construction to the Mollenkopf Athletic Center since it was built in 1989.
