TCU

Last season: 18-15

Nickname: Horned Frogs. Coach: Trent Johnson.

Conference: Big 12.

Key returners: Front-court junior players Karviar Shepherd (6-foot-10) and Chris Washburn (6-8), and junior guard Brandon Parrish. Washburn and Shepherd were the second- and third-best rebounders, and TCU also was getting back 6-7 junior Kenrich Williams (8.6 points and 6.7 rebounds), but he will miss the season after microfracture knee surgery in September.

Who left: Guards Kyan Anderson and Trey Zeigler, the only players who averaged in double-figure scoring, and 6-9 forward Amric Fields, the long-time sixth man for the Frogs.

The Skinny: Without Anderson and Zeigler, TCU has to find some consistent scoring, or it could be another tough Big 12 season. The Frogs got off to their best start in school history winning their first 13 non-conference games last season and were ranked in the AP poll for the first time since January 1999. But then came conference play, and they went 4-14 - though that was their most league wins since getting into the Big 12, including their first on the road and three in a row at home in February. TCU also won a Big 12 tournament game for the first time.
