Miami defensive tackle Michael Wyche has been suspended indefinitely by the team after being arrested for misdemeanor domestic battery on Wednesday.

The school issued a statement that it was “aware of the situation” and announced his suspension. The Palm Beach Postreported Wyche remained in a Miami correctional center as of Wednesday afternoon on $1,500 bond, according to court records. His hearing is set for Nov. 18. USA Today reports he was also ordered to stay away from the alleged victim.

Wyche, a redshirt senior, turned 23 on Wednesday. He was a three-star recruit who spent time at three different junior colleges before transferring to Miami in May 2014.

Wyche played in Miami’s first four games this season without recording a tackle. In 10 games in 2014, he recorded nine tackles and 1/2 sacks.

Miami plays Saturday at Duke in the first game of interim head coach Larry Scott’s tenure, after Al Golden was fired on Sunday in the wake of a 58–0 loss to Clemson.

The Hurricanes are 4–3.
