Florida State RB Dalvin Cook (ankle) out vs. Syracuse
Florida State University running back Dalvin Cook has been ruled out of Saturday’s game against Syracuse due to an ankle injury, reports Joe Reedy of the Associated Press.
According to Seminoles head coach Jimbo Fisher, the sophomore is recovering from a left ankle injury he sustained in the team’s loss against Georgia Tech last week. Cook has also been dealing with hamstring issues this season.
“We didn’t know about it until [after Saturday’s game] when he came in and said it. Said his ankle was bothering him,” Fisher told reporters Thursday, adding that he hopes Cook will be ready play against Clemson on Nov. 7. Fisher also noted that Cook’s hamstring is doing “really well.”
The running back has rushed for 1,037 yards and 11 touchdowns this season.

Backup running back Mario Pender is recovering from a collapsed lung and infection and is unable to play on Saturday, though he has been able to practice on a limited basis.
Freshman Jacques Patrick will likely take over at the running back position.
The loss to Georgia Tech was the first of the season for the No. 17 Seminoles.
Saturday’s game against the Orange kicks off at noon ET.
