Baylor coach Art Briles said quarterback Seth Russell is expected to make a full recovery after undergoing season-ending surgery to repair a fractured bone in his neck.

“Expect a full and healthy recovery,” Briles said Monday, according to KWTX. “He’s a fighter. We're anxious for him to get back on campus and get back around us. Everything turned out as well as we certainly could've hoped for.”

Russell was injured late in Baylor’s win over Iowa State on Oct. 24 and underwent surgery on Saturday.

Russell had led the Baylor offense to an impressive start, averaging 61.1 points per game. True freshman Jarrett Stidhamwill take over as the starter.

The Bears (7–0) are the No. 2 team in the nation and return to action on Thursday at Kansas State after a week off.
