Texas is coming off a 24–0 loss to Iowa State last week, and the Longhorns are looking to keep their bowl game hopes alive with a win against 0–8 Kansas. The Longhorns’ passing attack hasn't been very potent; quarterback Jerrod Heard has not broken the 100-yard mark since Sept. 26, and threw for just 26 yards against Iowa State. Johnathan Gray will also be looked upon for an improvement, rushing for just 23 yards after his first 100-yard game of the season against Kansas State.

At 0–8, the Jayhawks have only come close to a victory once in the past five weeks, against Texas Tech on Oct. 17. But during that stretch, they have had to face top 25 teams in Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and Baylor. Their biggest challenge will be trying to limit the Texas offense; the Jayhawks are last in all of FBS in total defense with over 580 yards per game allowed, and second-to-last with 47.1 points per game allowed.
