William & Mary defeats Elon 34-13, win streak at 5 games

ELON, N.C. (AP) Kendell Anderson and Mikal Abdul-Saboor broke free for rushing touchdowns - and DeVonte Dedmon returned a punt 70 yards for a TD - as William & Mary jumped out early to defeat Elon 34-13 on Saturday.

The Tribe (7-2, 5-1 Colonial Athletic Association) pushed their winning streak to five games. Richmond, 5-0 atop the CAA, played later Saturday.

Anderson carried 14 times for 68 yards and scored from the 19 to cap William & Mary's opening drive. Elon's Daniel Thompson fumbled when he was sacked on the second snap, and William & Mary took a 14 -0 lead when Mikal Abdul-Saboor scored from the 1-yard line five plays later. The Tribe pushed the lead to 21-0 after Elon's second possession when Dedmon scored on the punt return.

The Tribe forced four Elon (3-6, 2-4) turnovers - three fumbles and an interception.

Malcolm Summers scored both Elon touchdowns. Connor Christiansen passed for 310 yards.
