Hartford survives against CCSU, 92-83 2OT

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (AP) Taylor Dyson scored 17 points, including 7 of 8 at the free throw line, to help lead Hartford to a 92-83 win over Central Connecticut State in the season opener on Friday night.

After CCSU's Brandon Peel made a layup with 3:44 left to tie the game at 80, Hartford ripped off a 12-3 run, including an 8-0 run over the final 1:35 to put the game away. All eight points came at the free throw line, of which four came from Dyson. Overall Hartford hit 26 of 33 at the line

The Blue Devils missed their final five field goal attempts to close out the game.

Justin Graham finished with 16 points for the Hawks and John Carrol had 15.

Khalen Cumberlander led CCSU with 19 points.

Jahlil Nails drilled a 3-pointer for CCSU with 11 seconds left in the second half to send the game to overtime.
