Combs powers North Texas past NAIA-Jarvis Christian, 112-82

DENTON, Texas (AP) Jeremy Combs scored 24 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as North Texas crushed NAIA-Jarvis Christian, 112-82, in the season-opening game for both teams Friday night.

The Mean Green shot 52.1 percent from the field, knocking down 37 of 71 shots and 9 of 21 from 3-point range. J-Mychal Reese and Ja'Michael Brown each scored 16 points, and Deckie Johnson added 15 points by hitting 3 of 6 from beyond the arc.

North Texas won the rebound battle, pulling down 63 caroms while the Bulldogs snared 44.

Jarvis Christian got 16 points from James Parker and 12 each from Chris Key and Chasen King, but the Bulldogs converted just 27 of 78 field goal attempts and was just 11 of 34 from 3-point range, and 17 of 29 from the free-throw line.
