VCU dominates Prairie View A&M 75-50

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) Melvin Johnson and Doug Brooks had 13 points apiece as Virginia Commonwealth dominated Prairie View A&M to open the season with a 75-50 win on Friday night.

Justin Tillman added 10 points and pulled down 11 rebounds. Mo Alie-Cox finished with 8 points, nine rebounds and blocked four shots and JeQuan Lewis had seven assists and 8 points for the Rams.

VCU had a 16-9 run to close out the half leading 46-22. The Rams pushed the lead to 59-33 midway of the second half and coasted to the win.

Zachary Hamilton had 13 points and eight rebounds and Karim York added 12 points and seven rebounds for Prairie View.

VCU hit 42.4 percent from the floor while holding the Panthers to 17 of 56 (30.4%) shooting.
