Cannady leads Princeton over Rider 64-56

LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. (AP) Devin Cannady scored 12 of his 17 points in the final six minutes to help Princeton pull away and beat Rider 64-56 in a season opener on Friday night.

Spencer Weisz had 13 points, and Pete Miller added 9 points with 12 rebounds for the Tigers. Shawn Valentine had 15 points and nine rebounds, Kahlil Thomas scored 12 points, and Teddy Okereafor had seven points with five assists to lead Rider.

Princeton built a 30-22 halftime lead before Rider opened the second half on a 15-4 surge and led 37-34. The Tigers answered with a 16-2 run to take a 50-39 lead midway through the second half. Valentine and Jimmie Taylor made layups to pull the Broncs to 50-43 with 6:09 remaining.

Cannady then made two 3-pointers and a dunk, and was 4 of 4 from the line to seal it for the Tigers.
