Longwood races by Randolph College, 69-49

FARMVILLE, Va. (AP) Kanayo Obi-Rapu scored 22 points, including 6 of 11 from the 3-point line, to help lead Longwood to a 69-49 victory over Randolph College in the season opener on Friday night.

Khris Lane added 16 points and 20 rebounds, eight of which came on the offensive end, and Darrion Allen had 12 points and four assists for the Lancers.

Defensively, Longwood held the Randolph College to just 28.8 percent shooting from the field, 17.6 percent from 3-point range, and won the rebounding battle 47-33.

Obi-Rapu hit a 3-pointer to open the game for Longwood and the Lancers trailed just once in the first half on the way to a 16-point lead at the break. They extended their lead to as many as 24 in the second half.

Josh Freund scored 7 points to lead Randolph College.
