ORONO, Maine (AP) Connor Christiansen threw a pair of touchdown passes to Corey Joyner to lift Elon to a 27-22 win over Maine on Saturday.

Elon (4-6, 3-4 Colonial) jumped out to a 17-0 first half lead with the 16- and 8-yard touchdown throws and a 42-yard field goal from John Gallagher.

But the Phoenix had to hold off a late rally by Maine (3-7, 3-4), which closed the gap to 17-16 with Jordan Dunn's 6-yard touchdown catch from Dan Collins with 10:09 to play. Elon's Malcom Summers ran in a 13-yard touchdown to stretch the Phoenix advantage and Gallagher padded it with another field goal, putting the game out of reach. Maine scored a final touchdown as time expired.

Micah Wright had 198 yards on nine catches, including two touchdowns, for Maine.

The game was paused briefly in memory of Elon receiver Dimitri Allison, who died Nov. 11 after falling from a dorm.
