Arkansas State beats Lyon 81-37; Brady announces retirement

JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) Anthony Livingston and Donte Thomas each scored 10, and Arkansas State cruised in its home opener to an 81-37 victory over NAIA Lyon on Monday night.

Arkansas State coach John Brady announced after the game he is resigning at the end of the season. This is his eighth year with Arkansas State and his 25th as a Division I coach.

Livingston grabbed 10 rebounds and Thomas had five rebounds and five assists for the Red Wolves (1-1), who had 10 players score at least 6 points.

Braden Wendel and Brock Widders led Lyon with 7 points each. No one else made more than one field goal for the Scots, who shot 13 of 52 from the field and turned it over 22 times.

Arkansas State never trailed by less than 10 after Thomas made it 25-14 on a pair of free throws with four minutes left in the first half.
