College Football Playoff rankings: Top four teams remain same
The Clemson Tigers are No. 1 in the College Football Playoff rankings for a third straight week after winning another ACC contest over Syracuse on the road on Saturday. Wake Forest and South Carolina remain on the Tigers’ schedule to close out the regular season, giving them a good chance to finish undefeated before the ACC title game.
The Alabama Crimson Tide disposed of Mississippi State last weekend with a 31–6 victory to hold on to their No. 2 ranking. Alabama looks to cruise in its final two games of the season against Charleston Southern and Auburn.
Ohio State keeps its No. 3 spot after a 28–3 victory over Illinois. Quarterback J.T. Barrett returned from a one-game suspension and put up 150 passing yards and 74 rushing yards. The offense was powered by running back Ezekiel Elliott’s 181 yards and two touchdowns. Ohio State faces a tough finish to its season with Michigan State and Michigan on tap for the final two weeks.
Notre Dame remained in the fourth spot, ahead of Iowa. Highlighted by a 98-yard touchdown run by Josh Adams, the longest scoring play in Notre Dame history, the Fighting Irish beat Wake Forest 28–7 last week. The Irish will play Boston College at Fenway Park this weekend before their regular season finale against Stanford on the road.
Baylor was knocking on the door of the top four spots but lost to Oklahoma 44–34 last weekend and dropped to 10th.
