Report: Memphis extends substantial offer to keep Justin Fuente

Memphis has extended an 'extraordinary offer' to keep football head coach Justin Fuente, according to Geoffrey Calkins of Memphis’ The Commercial Appeal.

The deal would reportedly make Fuente the highest-paid football coach outside the Power 5 conference. 

“I was sincerely humbled by the university’s offer to step up,” Fuente said. “In addition, this administration realizes how important the staff is to me and is trying to step up substantially for our coaching staff.”

Last December, Fuente signed a five-year extension that pays him $1.4 million a year. 

Memphis will play Temple on Saturday. Fuente has a 25–22 record in his four years at Memphis.
