Daniel III, Miller lead Howard past Medgar Evers, 106-64

WASHINGTON (AP) James Daniel III scored 35 points and James Miller score 21 to help Howard cruise to a 106-64 win over Division III Medgar Evers on Friday night.

Daniel made 9 of 14 field goals, including 4 of 7 from 3-point range, and 13 of 13 free throws, while Miller made 8 of 13 from the field. Solomon Mangham added 13 points and seven rebounds for Howard (1-2).

It was the Bison's highest scoring output since a 116-111 win over VMI on Nov. 25, 2006.

A pair of free throws by Medgar Evers' Matthew Lee tied it at 23 with 8:58 left in the first half but Howard rattled off 15 of the next 19 points and closed the half on a 16-3 run to lead 57-36 at the break.

The Cougars trailed by at least 20, and as many as 46, the rest of the way.

Maurice Swaby II led Medgar Evers with 17 points.
