SALT LAKE CITY (AP) Utah running back Devontae Booker has played his last game for the 18th-ranked Utes.

Coach Kyle Whittingham said Booker won't be back in time for a bowl game after having surgery on his left knee Thursday to repair a torn meniscus. Whittingham made it official after Utah (8-3, 5-3) lost to UCLA 17-9 on Saturday and fell out of contention for the Pac-12 South title.

Booker's father, Ronnie Booker, was hopeful Thursday that his son could possibly play in a bowl game if it was late enough. He was confident that Booker will at least be able to participate in the Senior Bowl on Jan. 30.

Booker was the centerpiece of Utah's offense. Before being lost for the season, he ranked No. 3 in the Pac-12 in rushing yards and No. 2 in rushing touchdowns. Booker is third in school history with 2,773 yards rushing.
