Baylor QB Jarrett Stidham injures ankle, hand vs. Oklahoma State
Baylor quarterback Jarrett Stidham injured his ankle and his hand during Saturday’s 45–35 win over. Oklahoma State.
Stidham did not play in the second half after testing his ankle, which he hurt in the first half. After the game, Baylor coach Art Briles revealed Stidham also had a hand injury that involved significant swelling, though the team did not believe it to be a break.
"Honestly, he's not very good. We're going to have to hustle to see if he's able to go next week,” Briles told reporters.
Stidham was replaced by backup Chris Johnson. He entered the game with a back injury that had lingered from last week and was listed as questionable. He appeared to injure his ankle in the first half, and was visibly hobbling around the field.
The freshman quarterback completed 12 of 21 passes for 258 yards and a touchdown before leaving for the No. 10 Bears, who led the No. 6 Cowboys 24–10 at halftime.
Johnson, a sophomore, had only thrown four passes in his college career entering the game. He finished five of 10 for 138 yards, two touchdowns and an interception and led the Bears to the win.
