Buffalo deputy director of athletics Allen Greene has been promoted to athletic director, according to a source.

The formal announcement will be made Tuesday during a 10 a.m. press conference, per the source. Greene, 38, has spent the last two seasons as Buffalo’s deputy director of athletics after a year as the university’s senior associate athletic director for administration.

He replaces Danny White, who was announced last week as Central Florida’s new athletic director. Prior to Buffalo, Greene spent three years as Mississippi’s assistant athletic director for development and priority seating.

He worked at his alma mater, Notre Dame, from 2003-09. He spent the first four years of that tenure working in the Fighting Irish’s compliance office before becoming the university’s program coordinator for athletics advancement.

Greene was a ninth-round pick in the 1998 Major League Baseball amateur draft by the New York Yankees and played four seasons professionally.
