Texas-Rio Grande finishes strong, beats SE Missouri 83-74

EDINBURG, Texas (AP) Shaquille Hines scored 23 points, grabbed eight rebounds and dished out seven assists as Texas-Rio Grande Valley took control in the second half to beat Southeast Missouri State 83-74 on Tuesday night.

Hines, who was 10 of 13 from the floor, also had three blocked shots. Dan Kimasa added 18 points, Dakota Slaughter had 17 and Antonio Green chipped in 16 for the Vaqueros (2-3).

Southeast Missouri State (0-4) was ahead 42-36 at the break but the Vaqueros chipped away at the lead until Green nailed a 3-pointer with 12:19 left to take a 57-56 lead. That led to a 19-5 run and a 73-61 advantage for Texas-Rio Grande Valley.

Trey Kellum led Southeast Missouri with 21 points, Isiah Jones added 17 and Antonius Cleveland had 12.

The Vaqueros made 32 of 57 field goals (56.1%) while limiting Southeast Missiouri State to 28-of-69 (40.6%) shooting.
