Wisconsin’s Corey Clement cited for disorderly conduct
Wisconsin running back Corey Clement has been charged with two counts of disorderly conduct for his role in an off-campus fight, ESPN reports.
The incident occurred Nov. 8 and left Clement with a cut to his hand. Madison police said three others were also cited in the altercation, which involved a large group of people and Clement allegedly using “explicit and sexually derogatory” language toward a woman in an elevator. Their argument continued after the group exited, and video reportedly shows Clement punching one of the men in the group, igniting a fracas.
Wisconsin released the following statement on Wednesday:
“We were informed yesterday by Madison Police that Corey Clement was cited for two counts of disorderly conduct for his role in an incident on Nov. 8. When we first became aware of this incident, we knew this was a possibility.
We released a statement regarding Corey’s involvement in the incident on Nov. 12 in response to false information that was circulating. That statement was based off of information that we had at that time.
With the release of the full police report today, further details on the incident have come to light. Any disciplinary measures taken by UW head coach Paul Chryst relating to this incident are undetermined at this time and will be handled internally.”
Clement has missed significant time with a sports hernia injury this season and has run for 155 yards and four touchdowns. He returned to the field against Northwestern last week.
Clement said Tuesday that he was pondering a leap to the NFL, and that he would return to Wisconsin if his draft stock was third round or worse.
Wisconsin (8–3) closes the regular season with a trip to Minnesota (5–6) on Saturday.
