Virginia Tech (5–6) will look for a victory in head coach Frank Beamer’s last regular-season game at the helm of the team. The Hokies are coming off a 30–27 overtime loss to No. 14 North Carolina last week. Virginia Tech needs to win this matchup to qualify for a bowl game.
Virginia (4–7) will face their in-state rival after completing a 42–24 victory over Duke last week. Quarterback Matt Johns threw for a career-high 344 yards and two touchdowns against the Blue Devils. Virginia has lost 11 straight times to Virginia Tech in the series.
