American University beats New Hampshire 68-50

DURHAM, N.H. (AP) James Washington scored 19 points and grabbed five rebounds as American University picked up its first season win, beating New Hampshire 68-50 on Saturday.

Washington hit 7 of 9 from the field including four from distance for the Eagles (1-4). Jesse Reed had 16 points and led the team with nine rebounds. Delante Jones added 11 points. The team averaged 47.2 percent shooting from the field and 52.9 percent from the line.

New Hampshire went 13-3 to start the first half and led 28-23 at the break.

Reed sank a 3-pointer early in the second half to tie it at 30 and Washington hit another 3 to open the Eagles lead to 37-33 with 15:03 to play. American outscored New Hampshire 18-5 from the field in the final 10 minutes and cruised to the win.

Jacoby Armstrong led the Wildcats (3-2) with 22 points.
