Alaska Anchorage beats Drexel 71-65 at Shootout

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) Sekou Wiggs scored 33 points and Division II Alaska Anchorage beat Drexel 71-65 in the Great Alaska Shootout on Friday.

Wiggs, a junior who played at Idaho last season, was 11 of 27 overall and 7 of 17 from beyond the arc. He's scored 35 and 33 points in two games since the transfer. Corey Hammell had 14 points - going 12 of 16 from the line- with 12 rebounds and Christian Leckband added 11.

Drexel (0-5) was led by Sammy Mojica's 20 points and six assists. Tavon Allen had 16 points and Rashann London added 11 points.

Alaska Anchorage (1-1) scored the first 10 points of the game as Wiggs made a pair of 3-pointers. Drexel took a brief lead with 3:47 in the half on Mojica's 3-pointer, but Spencer Svejcar's trey put Anchorage up 40-36 at intermission.

London's layup with 1:04 to go made it a four-point game again, but Drexel missed consecutive 3s down the stretch and Anchorage held on.
