UNC-Asheville runs away from Loyola of Chicago, 59-48

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) Dylan Smith scored 17 points and sparked a 15-0 run that pulled UNC-Asheville out of a 6-point halftime deficit and launched the Bulldogs to a 59-48 win over Loyola of Chicago Saturday night to claim third place at the Great Alaska Shootout.

Smith's layup with 9:18 left gave UNC-Asheville the lead, 38-37, midway through run that gave the Bulldogs a 49-37 lead with just under five minutes left.

Dwayne Sutton added 13 points as the Bulldogs (3-4) shot 44 percent (22 of 50) from the field for the game, including just 2 of 13 from long range.

The Ramblers (4-3) used an 8-0 run midway through the first half to take a 19-10 lead and led 28-22 at intermission.

Montel James and Milton Doyle led Loyola with 9 points each. The Ramblers were 18 of 47 from the field (38.3 percent) and converted 4 of 12 from beyond the arc.
