Kentucky quarterback Patrick Towles plans to transfer next season, he announced on his Instagram account Sunday.

The redshirt junior finished the 2015 regular season throwing for over 2,000 yards and nine touchdowns. The 6’5”, 240-pound quarterback completed 183 of his 326 passes with 14 interceptions.

Towles started in nine games for Kentucky, but lost his starting job after the Wildcats’ 21-17 loss to Vanderbilt on Nov. 14. Redshirt freshman Drew Barker took over for Towles.

In the Instagram post, Towles thanked head coach Mark Stoops, offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson, athletic director Mitch Barnhart, his teammates, the fans and the entire Kentucky athletic department.

Kentucky (5–7) fell to Louisville 38-24 on Saturday to conclude the season.
