LSU athletic director Joe Alleva said after Saturday’s win over Texas A&M that Les Miles would remain head coach of the Tigers.

“I want to make it clear that Les Miles is our football coach and will continue to be our football coach,” Alleva said. Rumors had swirled in past weeks surrounding Miles’s potential departure from the school after a disappointing season by program standards. The win moved the Tigers to 8–3.

Miles told reporters he didn’t find out he would be sticking around as coach until after the game. He added that staff changes could be coming for the Tigers. Alleva said that Miles’s future did not hang in the balance based upon Saturday’s result.

Miles received a standing ovation from LSU’s crowd before the game and was carried off the field by his players after the 19–7 win, a warm reaction despite the storylines surrounding the coach and team.

Friday, Miles denied telling LSU boosters Saturday’s game would be his last.

Miles holds an 111–32 record as head coach of the Tigers, including two SEC titles and a national championship.
