Georgia LB Leonard Floyd after Mark Richt firing: ‘I'm gone’

Georgia star linebacker Leonard Floyd announced his impending departure from the program.

Georgia linebacker Leonard Floyd will leave the football program, he announced on Twitter on Sunday. 

In the parking lot as he exited the school's athletic facilities on Sunday, Floyd also yelled to reporters, “I'm gone too, by the way!”

Floyd's announcement comes after Georgia decided to part ways with head coach Mark Richt, who led the program for 15 seasons. Richt has compiled a 145–51 record, including two SEC titles. 

Floyd, a junior, is projected to be a first–round NFL draft pick. This season, the 6’4”, 231-pound linebacker led the team with 4.5 sacks and is tied for first in tackles-for-loss with 10.5.

Floyd tweeted that Richt was “the only person who could have convinced him to stay,” purportedly for his senior year.
