North Carolina A&T holds off Northern Kentucky, 74-63

GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) Sam Hunt scored 32 points, including 7 of 11 from 3-point range, to help lead North Carolina A&T to its first win of the season, 74-63, over Northern Kentucky on Monday night.

Steven Burrough added 10 points for North Carolina A&T (1-7). The Aggies had lost their first seven games to open the season, with losses coming by an average of 22.5 points.

A Deonte Cole jumper at the buzzer for Northern Kentucky gave the Norse a 39-37 lead after a back-and-forth first half. North Carolina A&T seized control in the first part of the second half, however, on a 17-8 scoring run capped by a Ede Egharevba fastbreak layup which gave the Aggies a 54-47 lead.

North Carolina A&T never trailed the rest of the night, and took double digit lead (69-58) lead with 2:02 left.

Jalen Billups led the Norse with 20 points and seven boards.
