All-American Kupp will remain at EWU for senior season

(STATS) - It's only taken three seasons for Eastern Washington's Cooper Kupp to become one of the greatest wide receivers in FCS history.

He will have an opportunity to obliterate a number of national receiving records for a career after announcing Monday night that he will remain at Eastern Washington for his senior season.

The 6-foot-2, 205-pound redshirt junior is eligible for early entry into the 2016 NFL Draft or, like former Eastern Washington quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. (Oregon) has done this year, could use his final season of eligibility at another school as a graduate transfer.

"I've decided that I want to spend the 2016 season as an Eagle and be part of something great here at Eastern Washington," Kupp said in a video. "I believe that God has a plan for me and a great plan for Eastern Washington, and I want to be a part of that. I look forward to this offseason and getting Eastern Washington back into the national championship."

Kupp was named the 2015 Big Sky offensive player of the year and will likely be selected as a first-team All-American for a third straight season. He leads the FCS in receptions (114, a Big Sky record), reception yards per game (10.4, another Big Sky mark), receiving yards (1,642), reception yards per game (149.3) and touchdown receptions (19).

Kupp holds 17 school records, eight conference records and seven FCS records. Through three seasons, he ranks second in FCS history in touchdown catches (56, two behind the record), second in reception yards (4,764, 486 behind the record) and fourth in receptions (311, 84 behind the record). Those statistics are Big Sky records already.

The 22-year-old Kupp will continue to play alongside his younger brother Ketner, an EWU linebacker who was a freshman this season. The 23rd-ranked Eagles slumped to a 6-5 record after winning Big Sky titles in Kupp's first two seasons.
