Thompson IV leads Eastern Michigan over Nebraska-Omaha 80-73

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) James Thompson IV scored 16 points and grabbed 15 rebounds to lead Eastern Michigan to an 80-73 victory over Nebraska-Omaha on Tuesday night.

Thompson was 8 of 13 from the field and had two blocks and a steal. Raven Lee made 9 of 10 free throws and finished with 17 points for Eastern Michigan (5-2).

Tre'Shawn Thurman scored 25 points on 11-of-19 shooting with 11 rebounds to lead Nebraska-Omaha (3-4). Devin Patterson added 16 points and Jake White chipped in 14 for the Mavericks.

The Eagles had a 15-point lead early in the second half. A 10-4 surge pulled the Mavericks to 64-55 with six minutes left. Thompson made a layup and the Eagles had a double-digit lead until Patterson, Tra-Deon Hollins and Randy Reed scored to make it 73-67 with 1:56 left.

Ty Toney scored and the Eagles made 5 of 6 free throws to seal it.
