Auburn director of player personnel Casey Woods is joining Alabama-Birmingham as wide receivers coach according to sources.

Woods had held his position with the Tigers the last three seasons. Before that, he was wide receivers coach and recruiting coordinator at Arkansas State for a season.

He was also an offensive quality control assistant at Auburn from 2009-11. He worked with Tennessee’s wide receivers as a graduate assistant in 2008.

A Starkville, Miss. native, Woods played for the Volunteers from 2003-07. Alabama-Birmingham will resume playing football in 2017 under coach Bill Clark.

He led the perennially struggling Blazers to a remarkable 6-6 record in his inaugural campaign last year, their first non-losing season since 2004. The program, however, was abruptly shut down early last December before being reinstated in June.
