Rhode Island handles Holy Cross 74-56

KINGSTON, R.I. (AP) Kuran Iverson scored 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to help Rhode Island beat Holy Cross 74-56 on Wednesday night.

Hassan Martin scored 16 and Jarvis Garrett and Jared Terrell added 11 apiece for the Rams (5-2), who outscored the Crusaders 46-30 in the paint.

The Rams won the rebound battle 41-32 and scored 20 second-chance points off 14 offensive rebounds.

Up 34-32 at halftime, Rhode Island opened the second half with an 11-1 run and led 43-33 after Iverson's layup, but the Crusaders pulled within three points at 52-49 after Karl Charles' jumper with 9:02 left. The Rams replied with 12 unanswered points and led by double digits the rest of the way.

Robert Champion scored 13 and Matt Zignorski 10 for Holy Cross (3-4), which was hurt by 16 turnovers that resulted in 24 points for Rhode Island.
