High Point tops Longwood in Big South opener, 90-66

HIGH POINT, N.C. (AP) John Brown scored 18 points, grabbed nine boards and dished off seven assists and High Point hit 11 of 19 from beyond the arc to down Longwood, 90-66 in the Big South Conference opener for both schools Wednesday night.

The Panthers (5-2, 1-0) are 11-6 in Big South openers and now are 23-2 in their last 25 home games.

Khris Lane converted a 3-point play to pull Longwood within two, 12-10 with 13:35 left in the first half, but Lorenzo Cugini hit a pair of 3-pointers as High Point went on an 11-3 run to take control, 22-13.

Cugini knocked down 4 of 5 from distance and finished with 16 points and Anthony Lindauer added 14 points as High Point converted 33 of 61 shots from the field (54.1 percent ).

Lotanna Nwogbo scored 19 points to lead the Lancers and Lane added another 15 points.
